Walmart Apologizes To Customers Who Received An Email With The N-Word

This is bizarre. I'm not even looking into this. Just the question of how was someone able to get into the auto-generated corporate email? More hacking? I didn't receive any such email. How were the recipients chosen? Somebody wants Walmart targeted. No pun intended.

Walmart apologized for an email that was sent that contained a racial slur.

In an auto-generated email that usually contains a subject line saying “Welcome to Walmart” sent the text instead read, “Welcome to Walmart, N-----” and was received by an undisclosed number of customers.

“We discovered that an external bad actor created false Walmart accounts with obvious intent to offend out customers,” Walmart said in a company statement. “We were shocked and appalled to see these offensive and unacceptable emails. We’re looking into our sign-up process to ensure something like this doesn’t happen again. We’re also looking into all available means to hold those responsible accountable.”

Many of those who received the email were quick to voice their outrage on social media and got the topic to trend.

“What’s the best way to contact you guys for a very inappropriate email my daughter received in their inbox from you?” said one user on Twitter.

While there is no evidence of any internal hack at Walmart, the company said that any falsely created accounts that were used to send the racial slur have been shut down.
